Step carefully into the Ankh Morpork equivalent of a quantum lab, where qubits wiggle like tipsy apprentices and logic politely excuses itself for a tea break. Quantum computing is not so much a discipline as a carnival of delightful chaos, promising speed, sophistication, and occasional existential panic in the data centre. Classical algorithms are orderly merchants; quantum algorithms are street performers juggling flaming coins, arguing over rules, and occasionally setting fire to the ledger.

Three things worth watching and a great deal that is not. The hype, which is abundant; the machinery, which advances genuinely and slowly and keeps not arriving; and the one threat that is already present, because encrypted traffic recorded today can be opened later, making tomorrow’s quantum computer a bill already being run up.
